Dr. Breonte Guy is currently an Associate Professor of Psychological Sciences at Winston-Salem State University, where he also serves as interim department chair. His work focuses on supporting student success, particularly among underserved communities, by creating pathways into STEM and opportunities for academic and personal growth. Dr. Guy’s research began with a focus on increasing BIPOC STEM awareness and participation through technology-rich learning. Today, he builds on that work by creating immersive research experiences, including the G.A.M.E. (Gamified Activities for Mental Empowerment) project, where he collaborates with youth to design tools that support their mental health and well-being. In the classroom, he fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and curiosity, while mentoring students through hands-on research that prepares them for future academic and career paths. Dr. Guy is dedicated to student success and is driven to provide cutting-edge learning experiences that promote academic excellence.
Biography
Dr. Guy is an active researcher in STEM education and intervention design with a focus on underserved populations. He incorporates undergraduate students into ongoing research projects, including federally funded studies, providing hands-on scholarly experience that prepares students for graduate school and professional careers.
Dr. Guy is interested in researching STEM access and participation; gamification and game-based learning; youth co-creation and participatory design; identity, belonging, and motivation; digital mental health and well-being; and translational science and applied research.
