Biography

Dr. Suresh Gopalan is a Professor of Management at Winston-Salem State University’s College of Business and Entrepreneurship. With a career defined by scholarly depth and a genuine commitment to classroom excellence, Dr. Gopalan brings both rigorous academic training and wide-ranging administrative experience to his work with students.

Dr. Gopalan earned his D.B.A. in Management from Louisiana Tech University. Over the course of his academic career, he has held a variety of administrative leadership positions — including department chair, assistant dean, associate dean, and interim dean — giving him a first-hand understanding of how institutions work and how students succeed within them. He has developed significant expertise in AACSB accreditation standards, program assessment, curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and community engagement.

A two-time teaching award recipient, Dr. Gopalan is recognized for his ability to connect with students across a variety of learning formats. His scholarship is widely published, and his combination of classroom skill and administrative perspective makes him a distinctive resource for students in WSSU’s online Business Management program.

Dr. Gopalan has served in multiple academic leadership roles throughout his career, including department chair, assistant dean, associate dean, and interim dean. He has received two teaching excellence awards and maintains a strong publication record in management and related fields. He brings extensive experience with AACSB accreditation guidelines, program assessment, and curriculum development.

Dr. Gopalan’s research interests include management, organizational behavior, cross-cultural business practices, and curriculum development.
